What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that specializes in the health and function of the spine and nervous system. Because of the focus of the spine, people often think as a chiropractor for only neck pain, back pain and headaches.

We are experts with these conditions, but we can also help address so much more! Chiropractic care is actually about helping people with their total health and well-being. We support people to feel great and get the most out of life!

The spine is there to protect the spinal cord, which is part of our central nervous system. The spine is made up of segments so that it can bend and move naturally with the body, almost like a set of armor to help move and protect the spinal cord.

Sometimes the wear and tear of everyday life can impact the spine and cause spinal segments to move in a way that is different or dysfunctional. This can happen overtime, like with poor posture, or suddenly, like a car accident. Because of the close relationship between the spine and nervous system, everyday strains can impact the flow of information between the brain and the body through the spinal cord. When that miscommunication occurs due to abnormal movement of the spine, we call that a vertebral subluxation. This can cause pain, muscle spasm, loss of function and may even impact energy, sleep and focus.

Chiropractors restore the natural movement of the spine thus improving the communication between the brain and body. In other words, chiropractic adjustments can help your body return to a natural state so it can heal to reclaim and optimize your health.
